My Happy Place: A Book of Joy, Aroha and Generosity

Author(s): Melissa Mebus

Inspiration

My Happy Place is a book featuring happy thoughts and memories contributed by 54 prominent New Zealanders, from actor Sam Neill to musician Ladi6, NZ's oldest person Maudie Wilson to shepherdess Mandy Thow. All contributions have been thoughtfully and beautifully illustrated by students at partner schools of the charity KidsCan. The overarching goal of the book is to donate proceeds from sales back to KidsCan, thereby helping Kiwi kids living in poverty to reach their potential in life. Aside from the stunning pages of happy thoughts and artistry, My Happy Place also includes biographies of all contributors plus short biographies and photos of each young artist. Award winning designer Vasanti Unka is responsible for the design of the book and prominent author Witi Ihimaera has written a Foreword, in which he describes My Happy Place as "one of the books of the year".
