Author description

Steve Sieberts is a firearms writer/editor with over 40 years of experience in the firearms field. He is a former small arms repair tech (45B) with the 82nd Airborne Division and 8th Infantry Division, and former member of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit's Pistol Team. He holds the Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge, the President's Hundred Tab, and the NRA 2600 Club. For over a decade he was the Chief Gunsmith at a classified DOD small arms R&D facility for U.S. Special Operations. Steve has competed in IPSC pistol competitions across the country for decades, starting with the original Southwest Pistol League in the mid 1970s. He is a former NRA Certified Law Enforcement Instructor for pistol/shotgun. He has attended five gunsmithing schools, including the Colorado School of Trades, is certified at eight factory armorers' schools, and attended two sniper schools. He currently writes the Gunsmithing column for Gun World Magazine; freelances for American Handgunner, SWAT, Tactical World, Firepower Magazine and others; is a former Contributing Editor for Varmint Hunter Magazine; and serves as Editor and Writer for Concealed Carry Handguns Magazine, Pocket Guns Magazine, and Gun World Buyer's Guide for Beckett Media. He is currently an active IDPA competitor at his local range.
