Jared Bell was born in England's Lake District, but as he moved to New Zealand as a baby and grew up in Wainuiomata, he considers himself a Kiwi in every other respect. He trained as a primary school teacher before heading off to travel the world and now teaches PE and Sport at a primary school in West London. He is also a freelance TV cameraman. He lives in Twickenham with his partner Sabina (also a teacher) and their two Burmese cats, Charlie and Storm. All his life Jared has been a huge supporter and competitor in all kinds of sports - especially rugby and judo. Jared also spends any spare moments fulfilling his passion for oil painting, writing and design. Piri's Big All Black Dream is his first picture book.
